Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho – A slow start in which they made only one of their first 10 shots put the Multnomah University Lions in an early bind from which they never recovered as the host College of Idaho Lady 'Yotes ran away with a 73-44 Cascade Collegiate Conference women's basketball victory Saturday evening here at the J.A. Albertson Center.
The Lady 'Yotes scored the first eight points of the game on three-pointers by Alyssa Case and Keahi-lele Roy and a jumper by Jocelyn Cook-Cox before
Rachelle Tau ended the run with a free throw for the Lions' first point.
Valerie Wakefield added two free throws for Multnomah midway through the first period, but the Lions did not get their first field goal until
Bethany George canned a jumper with 1:30 to go in the quarter. The period ended with the Lions down 20-5.
The Multnomah offense improved the rest of the way, the Lions even out-scoring the 'Yotes in the fourth quarter 13-12, but the damage had been done. The 'Yotes led 38-19 at the half and 61-31 at the end of three periods, their largest margin of the game.
--- By the Numbers: Tau led the Lions with 11 points, while
Faith Kraatz just missed a double-double off the bench with nine points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Multnomah finished with a .271 shooting percentage (13-48) and won the rebound battle 36-35. Wakefield handed out three assists, Kraatz made three steals, and
Paris Sanders had three steals and a pair of blocked shots.
Roy had 14 points, Case and Sophia Jackson 12, and Cook-Cox 10 for the Lady 'Yotes, who shot .474 from the field (27-57). Case and Lindy Westendorf had seven rebounds apiece, Roy and Westendorf passed out four assists each, and Roy and Makenna Schritter each picked up three steals.
Multnomah is now 0-19 on the season and 0-9 in the conference, while the College of Idaho moved to 3-12 overall and 3-6 in the CCC.
