Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – Returning to Cascade Collegiate Conference volleyball action after a pair of neutral-site wins last Saturday, the Multnomah University Lions dropped a 3-0 decision (25-22, 25-21, 25-11) to the host Northwest University (Wash.) Eagles Friday evening here at the NU Pavilion.
Defense at the net was the story of the game as the Eagles came up with 12 team blocks, resulting in a .139 hitting percentage for the Lions (33-18-108). With Multnomah managing just four blocks, Northwest hit .393 (42-7-89).
Maile Kam led the Lions with nine kills and
Patty Batoon added seven.
Marissa Rhodes had a match-high 23 assists and also made 10 digs.
Madysen Trout, returning to the lineup after missing several games due to injury, contributed a pair of blocks.
Northwest was led by Keann White with nine kills, while Mattie Jo Johnson and Audrey Saelens added eight each. Morgan Pilon had 19 assists, Alysanne Van Dyke made 13 digs, and Couteney Carr had 10 kills and 10 digs. Saelens was in on five blocks, and White and Johnson had four apiece.
The first set was tight all the way, with seven ties and neither team holding more than a four-point lead, before the Eagles scored the last three points to pull out the win. In the second set, Northwest jumped out to a 6-1 lead and Multnomah got no closer than four the rest of the way. The third set was all Eagles as they hit .647 in the set with no errors.
Multnomah is now 4-12 on the season and 1-8 in the CCC, while Northwest is 12-5 overall and 6-3 in the league.
