Porter Records her 100th Service Ace in Loss to COI

PORTLAND, Ore. - Multnomah fell to the College of Idaho in the regular season finale tonight, losing 3-1 after winning the first set. The Lions end the season 2-24 overall, with a 2-20 record in conference play.

The night began by honoring both Multnomah's and College of Idaho's seniors, in what was Multnomah's final home game of the conference season. Among the seniors for the Lions was Serina Haneberg, Ashley Allred, Lauren Porter, Alyssa Aubrey, Emilina Merafuentes, and JahNay Jardine, all of which had been a part of Multnomah's volleyball program for 4-5 years.

The Lions began the night strongly, taking the first set 25-22. Multnomah managed to edge their way past the Yotes, despite trailing 11-to-15 in kills to the visitors.

College of Idaho showed their dominance in the following sets, winning 25-14, 25-17, and 25-16. Mia Hutchinson, Shelbey Nichol, and Jessica Stires led the way for the Yotes offensively, with each of them recording 11 kills on the night. Liza Montalbo and Haley McUne played a great game defensively for the visitors, with 36 digs being tallied between the two.

Senior libero Porter had an impressive night in her final outing as a Lion, recording the 100th service ace of her career. Jardine and Jade Ilaoa set the pace offensively, recording 13 kills between the two. Additionally, freshman Sophia Hernandez recorded a double-double with 13 assists and 11 digs on the night.

"Tonight was a really special night for the team, and I'm honored to have coached these seniors," said head coach Nerisa Laban. "Though I think we were unlucky to not come out on top tonight, I'm so proud of this team's perseverance and how they always gave their all throughout the entire season."
