Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – With host Warner Pacific College hitting all of their free throws and half of their three-pointers, the Multnomah University Lions were unable to erase a big first-quarter deficit and fell 75-53 to the red-hot Knights in a Cascade College Conference women's basketball game Tuesday evening here at Bart Valentine Court.
Warner scored the first 11 points of the game, eight of them by Darbi Pink on two threes and a jumper, and never looked back. Multnomah got on the board midway through the opening period on a free throw by
Valerie Wakefield, followed by a layup by
Bethany George off a rebound of her own missed three, but that 11-3 score was as close as the Lions would come.
Shasta Lofgren's three at 7:40 of the second period gave the Knights' their first 20-point lead at 32-12, and the margin reached 26 at 43-17 with 3:05 left in the half on a trey by Mady Hanna. Warner led 45-25 at the break, and the second half was mostly just a swap of baskets. The Lions did close within 15 at 62-47 on a layup by
Rachelle Tau with 6:21 left in the game, but the Knights pulled away again.
--- By the Numbers: George led the Lions with 17 points, and Wakefield and
Tiara Chinn added 12 apiece.
Paris Sanders hauled down seven rebounds as the Lions enjoyed a 35-34 edge on the glass, and Wakefield passed out four assists and made two steals. Fait Kraatz blocked a pair of shots.
Pink and Lofgren scored 14 and 12 points respectively to pace the Knights, who connected on 26 of 56 from the field (.464), including 14 of 28 (.500) on threes, and 9-of-9 (1.000) on free throws. Michaela Pin had a team-high six rebounds, and Grace Prom handed out five assists.
Multnomah is now 0-11 on the season and 0-3 in the CCC, while Warner Pacific is 4-7 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
