Lions Return Home for First Time in Eight Matches

PORTLAND, Ore. – After eight straight road matches, the Multnomah University volleyball will make its return to Jim Skagen Court for the first time this season, hosting a non-conference match with Pacific University on Tuesday, before returning to Cascade Conference action with another home contest against Walla Walla University.

The back stretch of the road trip has proven to be a rocky one for the Lions (3-5, 0-3 CCC), dropping the last four matches after a 3-1 start to the year. During that time, MU faced three conference opponents, including Northwest University who was projected to finish fourth in the standings, and NCAA DIII Linfield College.

Despite the recent skid, MU's defense has shown signs of life, holding their opponents to a .144 attacking percentage, the third lowest mark in the conference. The Lions are also averaging 15.36 digs each set which also ranks third amongst the CCC teams.

Other Highlights:
-The Lions rank at No. 8 in the conference in hitting percentage at .157
-Multnomah averages the second most aces per set at 1.93, totaling 54 aces on the year
-Freshman Breana Horvill averages the seventh most aces in the conference
-Another freshman amidst a breakout year, Jenna Horton, ranks seventh in the CCC in digs per set (3.42) and has totaled a team high 89 digs in eight matches.
-Sophomore outsider Miranda Halverson leads the Lions attack with 75 kills while Maile Kam sits at 68 kills and Patty Batoon at 65 kills.
-Marissa Rhodes and Kayla Keane have split setter duties so far tallying 105 and 83 assists respectively.
