Box Score 2 REDDING, Calif. – The Multnomah University volleyball team finished off the last day of the Simpson Classic without losing a set, sweeping New Hope Christian College 25-16 25-16, and 25-15 before finishing off West Coast Baptist in three 25-15, 25-7 and 25-12.
The Lions leave the weekend with a 3-1 record in the Simpson Classic and will open conference play next Tuesday as they travel to Warner Pacific.
"The girls played very well today! It was our best hitting and serving performance thus far," said head coach
Jenna Bouey. "Horvill and Bowling came in and served aces. Halverson and Kam also served well and had a great day at the net hitting.
New Hope Christian: Setter
Kayla Keane orchestrated the Lions offense, recording a match high 18 assists.
Miranda Halverson finished as the leading offense threat for MU with 10 kills off of 24 swings followed by
Maile Kam with nine kills and
Patty Batoon with eight.
Kam also added 14 digs along with
Jenna Horton and
Rachel Woodcock collected seven digs to lead the Lions defense, which held New Hope Christian to an attacking percentage of -.051.
West Coast Baptist: Rhodes totaled 10 assists followed by Keane's nine while
Hannah Antal led the attack with nine kills.
"Patty continued to dominate in the front row while Horton was steady on defense and serve receive. It was a great day for MU Volleyyball."
