Lions Close Out 2016 Campaign at Home; Senior Night on Saturday

PORTLAND, Ore. – Down to their final weekend in the 2016 season, the Multnomah University volleyball team prepares to host Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) opponents Evergreen State on Friday before closing out the year Saturday against Northwest on senior night.
 
Last week: The Lions (10-17, 3-15 CCC) finished the road schedule, falling to Northwest Christian in three sets before stealing a set from 22nd-ranked Corban, losing 3-1.
 
Highlights: MU was worked the sixth lowest opponent hitting percentage in the conference, holding them to .169, while managing a .138 attacking percentage of their own. The Lions rank first in the CCC in service aces, racking up 165 on the season, and average the third most digs per set at 15.25.
 
Individually, Marissa Rhodes boasts the 10th highest assists per set average in the conference, 5.87, totaling 528 assists on the season. Hannah Antal is second in the CCC in aces with 34 while Miranda Halverson is fourth with 32 aces.
 
Playing in 23 matches so far this season, senior Kiana Miller has tallied 281 digs and holds the eighth highest average at 3.47 digs per set.
 
With two match still to play this year, the Lions have already surpassed last season's first year as NAIA members, tallying seven more wins overall and three more conference wins.
 
Saturday's match will celebrate two seniors on the MU squad playing their final match in Brittany Bowling and Kiana Miller.

About Evergreen:
-Evergreen enters the final weekend of regular season action at 5-20 overall, going 4-14 in the CCC
-The Geoducks registered a home win over the Lions at the beginning of the year in straight sets
-Evergreen ranks second to last in opponent hitting percentage (.219)
-Sitting on the outside of the CCC playoff picture, the Geoducks hope to add to last week's win over Walla Walla, matching last year's mark of five conference wins

About Northwest:
-The Eagles have already clinched a playoff spot in the CCC postseason tournament at 13-5 in conference matches, going 16-7 overall
-Wins this weekend would help them secure the third seed in the tournament as they hold a match lead over College of Idaho.
-Northwest is one of the best defensive teams in the CCC, holding their opponent's to the second lowest hitting percentage (.113) and collecting the fourth most blocks at 183.
