PORTLAND, Ore. - The Multnomah University women's basketball team will try to get back on the winning side of things this weekend as they head out on the road to face off against Corban on Friday night and Northwest Christian on Saturday.
Last Week: The Lions (3-13, 1-7 CCC) dropped two games over the weekend, losing to Eastern Oregon 80-45 after a close battle with College of Idaho that ended 61-73 in favor of the Yotes.
Junior guard
Miranda Schmillen scored a team high 20 points against C of I while
Karissa Cox added 16 points. A 16-6 fourth quarter run by the Yotes ended up being the deciding factor in the night as C of I sneaked past the Lions.
By the Numbers: Schmillen leads MU in scoring so far this season, averaging 10.5 points per game. Her average ranks 20
th in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Junior forward
Lacie Kamper has been a force underneath the basketball, tallying 114 rebounds. Her average of 7.1 rebounds per game ranks fifth in the CCC. Kamper also adds 7.6 points per contest.
The Lions are averaging 56.6 points per game this season and have shot 34 percent from the field. MU ranks third in the conference in offensive rebounds, averaging 14.4 offensive rebounds a game. Multnomah currently sits on a four game losing streak as they try to end it this weekend against the Warriors on Friday.
About Corban:-The Warriors currently sit in seventh place in the CCC standings with a record of 8-9 overall, going 3-5 in the CCC.
-Corban ranks fourth in the conference in scoring with 67.9 points per game while giving up 70.5 ppg.
-Corban was won three of their last five CCC games and are 5-2 at home this season.
-The Warriors are led by senior Jade Lowery who averages the second most points in the conference at 17.3 points per game.
-Corban also holds the conference's top rebounder in Sadie Pilgeram who averages 8.5 rebounds a game.
-The Warriors are also the top 3-point shooting team in the CCC averaging 8.5 three-pointers made per game.
About Northwest Christian:-The Beacons are in a three-way tie for third place in the conference standings with a 6-2 CCC record, going 10-6 overall.
-NCU has won their last six CCC games with their last conference loss coming against undefeated Southern Oregon back at the beginning of December.
-Northwest Christian has tallied a home record of 6-2, losing two non-conference games against Pacific University and Carroll College.
-The Beacons rank in the middle of the pack in scoring with 64.6 points per game but hold their opponents to only 58.5 ppg, the third best defense in the CCC.
-NCU has totaled 108 3-pointers this season and hold the second best average from deep at .334 percent.
-The Beacons are led by Andrea Gloss with 11.1 points per game and Hanna Mack who leads the CCC in blocks, averaging 2.3 a game, to go along with 10.3 ppg.
