Lions Look to End Losing Skid as They Travel to Walla Walla

PORTLAND, Ore. – After a six-game losing skid, the Multnomah University women's basketball team  hopes to get back in the win column, returning to Cascade Collegiate Conference action as they travel to Walla Walla University Thursday night.

The Lions (2-9, 0-3 CCC) paused from CCC play last week to host non-conference opponent Linfield College, a game they lost 72-60, improving on their performance from an earlier meeting this season.

Junior forward Lacie Kamper has been one of the top contributors for the Lions, averaging 7.7 points and eight rebounds through 11 games this season. Her 88 total rebounds is the most in the Cascade Conference while MU ranks fifth overall in rebounds per game.

Junior Miranda Schmillen and senior Lexie Govert have been the top scorers for MU during the early part of the season with Schmillen averaging a high 9.8 points followed closely by Govert at 9.6 ppg. Along with a team high 106 total points, Govert has tallied a team high 17 steals.

Last year, MU completed the season sweep of the Wolves, winning in overtime on the road 68-65 before defeating them at home 60-55.

The Lions are still looking for their first conference win after opening CCC play 0-3 in the first week. Chances are high as they travel to a struggling Walla Walla team at 0-7.

About Walla Walla:
-Hold a record of 0-7 after opening conference games at 0-2, including a 120-17 loss to Eastern Oregon.
-The Wolves average a conference low 39.4 points per game while giving up a high 87.7 points, a scoring margin of -48.3.
-Along with MU, this is the first year Walla Walla will compete in the CCC after gaining acceptance last spring.
-WWU ranks last in field goal percentage (.297), field goal defense (.490) and turnover margin at -17.
-Walla Walla does allow the sixth least amount of rebounds, holding opponents to 40.9 a game.
