PORTLAND, Ore. – The Multnomah University volleyball will head back out on the road this weekend at they travel south to take on Corban University in Salem, Ore., on Friday before visiting Northwest Christian in Eugene, Ore., on Saturday.
The Lions (1-8, 0-8 CCC) are hoping to end a 24 set losing streak in conference play this weekend as they face two teams who have struggled in recent years.
Last weekend, MU faced two of the more challenging opponents this season in the College of Idaho and seventh-ranked Eastern Oregon. Fighting to avid the sweep against the Mountaineers, the Lions fell just short, forcing a 27-25 final set score in favor of Eastern.
Sophomore
Patty Batoon has led the attack for the Lions so far this year racking up 101 kills but freshman
Miranda Halverson has steadily improved over the last few matches bringing her season total to 68 kills. Freshman setter
Marissa Rhodes is quickly approaching the 200 assist mark as she sits at 189 while average 6.75 assister per set.
About Corban:-Currently sit in the middle of the conference standings at 4-4, 6-8 overall.
-Defeated C of I earlier in the season for the first time in 11 years.
-Average the fifth most kills per set at 12.49.
-Have won four of the last five CCC competitions.
-Warriors' Amber Parker leads in kills (265) and Haley Wells leads in digs (295).
About Northwest Christian: -The Beacons (8-7, 1-7 CCC) are 10
th in the conference standings.
-Selected to finish eighth in the preseason after a 6-12 record a season ago.
-Ranked second in the conference in opponent's hitting percentage.
-Ranked eighth in kills in the conference and seventh in blocks.
-Broke a seven match losing streak with a sweep over The Evergreen State.
