Lions Break Records at Willamette Invitational

SALEM, Ore. - Both Men's & Women's cross country teams had an impressive outing at the 49th Annual Charles Bowels Willamette Invitational, with runners on both teams breaking multiple school records. "It was the perfect weather for a cross country meet; I knew we were going to have a great day," shared Head Coach Ben Barber when asked for his thoughts on the meet. "We executed our race strategy perfectly and ran incredibly! I'm beyond proud of how each of them ran - it's a testament to all the hard work and dedication they've put in up to this point in the season."

First in the men's race, Noa Miller and Fredrick Watkins marked their places in the history books, as they ran the 2nd and 3rd fastest 8k times in school history respectively. Both Miller and Watkins PR'd by over 45 seconds with their times of 25:46.60 and 26:11.30. Justin Almendaraz and Ben Behrens also had big days for the Lions, as they both managed to PR by over a minute.

On the women's side, Gabrielle Metzger also etched her name into the record books, as she became the 2nd fastest 5k runner in school history with a blazing 1:20 PR. Her time of 18:32.60 placed her in the top 10 runners in the conference. DeAsia Wosachlo also had an incredible day, as she PR'd by 40 seconds with a time of 20:19.20.

Both squads will be back in action at the George Oja Linfield Invitational on Saturday, October 19th.
