BEND, Ore. – Multnomah University's two participants in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Women's Golf Championships, Rachel Weros and Ivory Linger, stand 18
th and 24
th respectively on the leader board after the first round was completed here Monday at the Pronghorn Resort's Nicklaus Golf Course.
Weros carded an 18-hole score of 104 on the difficult par-72, 5,814-yard course, while Linger posted a 123. Stephanie Koza of the Oregon Institute of Technology is the leader with a six-over-par 78, holding a two-stroke lead over OIT teammate Janelle Ferlan and the College of Idaho's Natalie Mullins, both at 80.
Oregon Tech is the first-round team leader with a four-player score of 334, 12 strokes ahead of Corban University's 346. The College of Idaho is third at 372, and Walla Walla University is fourth at 463. Tournament host Multnomah and Warner Pacific University are fielding incomplete teams and thus have no team score, while Northwest Christian University's players are competing as individuals only.
The women are scheduled to play their second and final round Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., starting on the back nine. Darkness halted the men's tournament in the second round with four groups still on the course, so they will complete that round about 8:30 a.m. if potential frost on the ground does not delkay the resumption of play. The men's pairings will then be revised, and their third and final round will start some time after the women tee off.
