PORTLAND, Ore. - Following their successful indoor season, the Multnomah track & field program opened up their outdoor campaign last weekend, as they competed in the Lewis & Clark Electric Forest Opener.
"This was a good first run out for both teams, and I'm proud of how everyone performed," shared head coach Ben Barber. "Considering our circumstances and the hurdles we've had to overcome as a program this semester, we had a great indoor season and I know we'll be able to carry that momentum throughout the outdoor season."
Willy Mabena had two standout performances for the Lions on the weekend, earning first place finishes in the men's 100m (10.85) and 200m (21.93). The junior competed alongside
Anthony Simon, who finished 28th in the 100m with a time of 11.95.
On the women's side,
Gabrielle Metzger,
Analynne Klotz, and
DeAsia Wosachlo all competed and finished in the top 20 places in the 1500m. Metzger earned an 8th-place finish with a time of 4:52.75, followed closely by Klotz in 11th-place (5:02.98). Wosachlo rounded things out for the Lions with a 19th-place finish and time of 5:22.39.
Isabelle Raasch wrapped things up for Multnomah, competing in three separate events. The junior earned an 11th-place finish in the 100m hurdles (19.46), a 3rd-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.48m, and a 7th-place finish in shot put with a mark of 9.09m.
The Lions will continue their outdoor campaign as they travel to Eugene, Oregon on Saturday, March 15th for the Lane Open.
