Lions Drop Points in First Away Trip of Conference Season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lions were unable to secure a win in either of their games during their first away trip of the conference season, as they fell 2-0 against Southern Oregon and 2-1 against Oregon Tech. Multnomah was outmatched offensively in both matches, with the Raiders of SOU holding a 14-4 edge in terms of shots, eight of which were on target. Oregon Tech showed a similar attacking prowess, as they held a 24-7 edge in terms of total shots against the Lions.

"We had a hard time putting anything together going forward this weekend," shared Head Coach Dalon Parker. "I'm disappointed in how we let the lead slip against OIT; we know that we won't always get chances like that against teams this season, and we have to be better at game management as the season progresses."

Despite conceding four goals over the course of the weekend, freshman goalkeeper Joseph Gyamfi came up big for Multnomah, recording 10 saves over the course of both games in his first two starts of the conference season. Senior forward Jaren Bowler was another bright spot for the Lions, scoring their one goal of the weekend which gave them a brief lead over Oregon Tech. Bowler's goal game in the 19th minute against the Owls, which is now his third goal of the season and second goal in the past three games.

The Lions are looking to bounce back in their first home conference games of the season, as they host Carroll College and University of Providence on Friday, September 27th and Saturday, September 28th.
