Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 In their first away trip of the conference season where they faced Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech, the Lions earned a historic 2-0 win over SOU, before unfortunately falling 3-0 the next day to the Owls of Oregon Tech. Multnomah (3-3-2, 1-1 CCC) now sits in 6th place in the conference standings after the first weekend of play, as they look to maintain this momentum as the conference season progresses.
"I'm beyond proud of how the girls performed this weekend," shared Head Coach Dalon Parker. "Being on the road against two of the top teams in the league for the first weekend of conference could have been seen as intimidating, but I think all the girls handled the pressure really well, and I'm proud of the fact that we were able to walk away with three points from this past weekend."
The backline of Multnomah put in a top tier performance in Friday's game against Southern Oregon. They managed to keep the Raiders off the scoresheet in their home stadium for the first time since the 2021 season, thanks largely in part to senior goalkeeper
Jennifer Alvillar. She recorded seven saves on the day to secure her fourth clean sheet of the season, but she also managed to add her name to the scoresheet has she converted a penalty kick in the 83rd minute. Alvillar's goal was the second of the afternoon, after
Annika Rahf first broke the deadlock with a direct freekick from 25 yards out that soared past the outstretched hands of SOU's goalkeeper.
The Lions were unfortunately unable to replicate that same performance against Oregon Tech the following day, as they fell 3-0 against the Owls. Multnomah was outmatched offensively, with Oregon Tech holding a 20-2 edge in terms of total shots. Alvillar recorded an additional five saves, but her efforts weren't enough to keep the Owls from securing the win.
The Lions will look to pick up their 2nd and 3rd wins of the season this next weekend, as they host Carroll College and the University of Providence.
