EUGENE, Ore. - The Lions kicked off the new season this past weekend, as they competed against some top competition in the Bushnell Invitational. Multnomah (926) took sixth, finishing the weekend ahead of Southern Oregon (934) and the College of Idaho (934) by eight strokes.
"Overall, it was a good team effort," shared Head Coach Gary Akiyama. "
Jack Dalberg,
Aaron Brown and
Alden Fay all stepped up in a big way for us this past weekend, and I'm excited to see how we'll continue to grow as the season progresses." Brown had an impressive weekend for the Lions, finishing tied for 10th in the individual rankings.
Multnomah started the weekend well, much to the pleasure of Head Coach Akiyama. "There is always room for improvement, but I think we did a good job that first day in placing ourselves in a good position for day two."
Up next for Multnomah is a trip to College Place, Washington, where they will compete in the Walla Walla Invitational. Akiyama added, "We are really looking forward to this coming weekend at Walla Walla. The Wine Valley golf course is one of the top rated courses in the Pacific Northwest and in the nation. Our golfers as individuals and as a team do well at Wine Valley, so our expectations are high."
