Twenty-Eight Lions Awarded as 2024 Daktronics NAIA Fall Scholar-Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Last week, the NAIA National Office announced the entire list of Scholar-Athletes for the 2024 fall sport season, where twenty-eight Multnomah Lions were honored among the nation's most accomplished student-athletes in the classroom. This award recognizes student-athletes in each of the fall sports who have excelled academically including football, men's cross country, men's soccer, women's cross country, women's soccer and women's volleyball.

"I couldn't be prouder of our outstanding scholar-athletes, as well as each of our coaches and the expectation they've set within their teams," shared campus athletic director Corey Mehl. "The focus has and always will be for our athletes to excel academically and in their sport. Again, I thank each of our team's coaches for upholding this standard, as our athletes continue to achieve great things academically."

To qualify as a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport, and have attended their institution for at least one full year. This year, the list features an impressive number of student-athletes who have met these rigorous standards.

The men's soccer program led all Multnomah fall sports with 11 scholar-athletes in 2024, followed by women's soccer (9), volleyball (4), women's cross country (3), and men's cross country (1).
