PORTLAND, Ore. – After getting off to the best start in program history, the Multnomah University men's soccer team look to continue their early success this week with two road games.
On Thursday, the Lions face Simpson University in Redding, Calif., followed by Sierra Nevada College on Friday in Incline Village, Nev.
Last Week: MU matched their season total in wins from a year ago, defeating The King's University 2-0 at Delta Park. After finishing the first half in a scoreless tie,
Michael Kochis opened up the scoring for the Lions in the 56
th minute before assisting on the second goal, scored by MU newcomer
Edgar De Los Santos in the 82
nd minute. Second year keeper
Manny Guillermo earned a shutout victory, recording four saves on the night.
Simpson:
-Members of the NAIA's Cal-Pac Conference, Simpson finished 4-13-1 overall a season ago
-The Red Hawks have not won more than four games since the 2012 season, going 6-10-2
-Simpson has played one game this year, losing 4-0 against CCC opponent Oregon Tech
-At the end of last year, SU won three of their last four games in the regular season, scoring 18 goals during that span.
Sierra Nevada:
-SNC entered the NAIA in the 2015-16 season as a member of the Cal-Pac Conference as well.
-In the programs first year, SNC soccer finished 4-12 overall
-Against CCC opponents last year, the Eagles fell to Southern Oregon 1-10, defeated Eastern Oregon 2-1, and lost to College of Idaho 8-0
-In their only game of the season so far, SNC lost to Northwest 4-1, making them 1-3 all-time first CCC opponents
