PORTLAND, Oregon – With the game on the line, Freshmen
Max Upchurch landed a clutch three-pointer from deep to give the Lions a comfortable lead and the win over the Warner Pacific Knights, 96-95.
How It Happened
The gymnasium was rocking Tuesday night from the tip against Warner Pacific. Coming off a difficult loss in Walla Walla this past weekend, the Multnomah Lions were firing on all cylinders. Offense spread far and wide for the Lions in the first half, with ten players scoring 51 points. Heading into the locker rooms, things were tied 51-51.
As the game progressed, the intensity only mounted. Both teams traded baskets and switched leads throughout with the game tied with four minutes remaining. In the closing minutes, holding onto a two-point lead,
Max Upchurch splashed in a deep three to extend the Lions lead to 91-86. The game kept rolling into the final seconds with
Darius Redrick hitting the game-winning free-throws.
Big performances came from Redrick who collected a triple-double (21p, 11r, 10a), and
Ben Grandle (18, 10) who picked up a double-double. Upchurch (15) added double figures in the points column. The Lions picked up 17 assists in the game, Redrick contributed 10.
Looking at the Stats
After looking over game film, Junior Redrick completed a triple-double (21, 11, 10).
Multnomah snapped a 7-game losing streak, shooting 40% from the field.
Warner Pacific's Collin Malcolm led all players with 28 points and 21 rebounds.
