PORTLAND, Ore. – After two straight weeks on the road, the Multnomah University men's basketball team returns to Jim Skagen Court on Wednesday as they play host to NCAA DIII and Northwest Conference member Pacific Lutheran University.
Action continues for the Lions (2-5) later this week as they travel for another non-conference game, facing New Hope Christian College for the third time this season.
Last Week: MU completed their second straight California road trip, losing two contests against NAIA DI Menlo College (90-79) and the University of California – Maritime (104-85). In his first career start for the Lions, freshman guard
Max Upchurch totaled a team high 22 points against Menlo, knocking down six 3-pointers.
Highlights: As a team, the Lions are averaging 88 points per game, the fourth highest average among Cascade Conference schools. The deep ball continues to be a focal point for the offense, who rank fifth among NAIA DII schools in 3-pointers made with 79.
Individually, junior
Darius Redrick leads the Lions with an average of 17 points per game, while also totaling the most assists in the conference with 35.
Following him is
Ben Grandle (16.7 ppg) who's 31 made 3-pointers ranks as the most in both NAIA divisions. Other key contributors early on include
Thomas Simien (13.3 ppg) and
Ezekiel Martin who is averaging 9.6 points and a team high 7.1 rebounds per game.
