PORTLAND, Ore. – The Multnomah University men's basketball team will continue their pre-conference play at home this week as they play host to West Coast Baptist College on Friday, Nov 6, at 7 p.m. on Jim Skagen Court.
The Lions are returning from a trip to Lewiston Idaho, where they lost to NAIA Division I opponent Lewis-Clark State College 117-75, putting them at 1-2 on the season.
As a team, the Lions average 98 points per game through their first games and have averaged 15 made three-pointers. Senior guard
Blake Updike has led the team so far this year, averaging 31-points per game including a season high of 40 points. Against the Warriors,
Jordan Paris scored his season high 19 points while averaging a team high in rebounds with 13 per game.
In his first year with the Lions,
Thomas Simien has started out very strong averaging 9.7 points and nine rebounds in three games and giving the Lions a big presence in the post.
West Coast Baptist, members of the National Christian College Athletic Association, are 0-2 on the year, losing to University of California-Maritime 92-64 and Menlo College 79-60.
Leading the Eagles so far this year is Imaan Vicente who has averaged 17.5 points per game along with eight rebounds, followed by Daniel Foster with 14 points and Kaleb Finely with nine points per game.
The Lions will continue with pre-conference play until Tuesday, Dec. 1, when they welcome in Warner Pacific for their first ever Cascade Collegiate Conference game.
