Lions Fall to Wolves in Conference Battle

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Multnomah Women's Basketball team faced off against Walla Walla University on Saturday evening at Lytle Gym, with the Lions succumbing to the Wolves 74-63. The result marked Walla Walla's first Cascade Collegiate Conference victory of the season, improving their record to 4-10 overall and 1-7 in conference play, while the Lions fell to 5-9 overall and 3-5 in the CCC.

The Wolves were led by a dominant performance from Natalee Trevino, who tallied a game-high 24 points, shooting an impressive 5-for-10 from beyond the arc. Chariah Daniels added a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, providing a consistent inside presence. Jordan Green-Wallace contributed 12 points off the bench, adding a spark to Walla Walla's offense.

Multnomah started strong, leading 13-11 after the first quarter, but the Wolves surged ahead in the second with a 22-point effort. The Lions struggled to keep pace in the third quarter, scoring just 10 points as Walla Walla extended their lead to double digits. Despite a spirited 23-point fourth quarter led by Jersey Huerta's eight points, the Lions couldn't close the gap.

Teyah Clark paced the Lions with 14 points, while Makayla Torkornoo and Reya Lee chipped in with 11 and 13 points, respectively. Gracie Browning battled hard on the boards, pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds. The Lions shot 43.9% from the field but were out-rebounded 40-26 and struggled to contain the Wolves' three-point shooters, who converted 52.4% of their attempts.

"Our team needs to focus on consistency and executing our game plan for a full 40 minutes," said Head Coach Reid Takatsuka. "Credit to Walla Walla for their energy and execution."

The Lions look ahead to their next game as they continue conference play on January 10th against Southern Oregon University.
