Lions Drop First Game of 2025 to Warriors

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Multnomah University Lions opened the new year with a tough matchup against Lewis-Clark State College on Friday afternoon at Lytle Gymnasium. Despite a spirited second-half performance, the Lions fell 90-72 to the visiting Warriors.

The Lions struggled offensively in the first half, shooting just 29.6% from the field and 18.2% from three-point range. They trailed 39-20 at halftime. However, a much-improved second half saw Multnomah outscore Lewis-Clark State 52-51, led by a resilient effort from senior Keilan Torkornoo, who finished with a team-high 18 points, six rebounds, and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line.

Noah McCord added 12 points, six rebounds, and two blocks, while Braedon Edison chipped in 11 points, including two three-pointers. The Lions shot 44.7% in the second half but couldn't close the gap, as Lewis-Clark State maintained their offensive efficiency, finishing the game shooting 55.8% from the floor.

For the Warriors, MaCarhy Morris paced the team with 24 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Taden King contributed 16 points, including two three-pointers, while John Lustig added 14 points.

The Lions (9-3, 5-2 CCC) will look to bounce back in their next contest as they continue conference play.
