PORTLAND, Ore. - Multnomah struggled to recreate the same type of moments they had in last night's win against Corban, with Bushnell powering their way to a convincing 75-63 win over the Lions. With the loss, Multnomah dropped to 4-10 in conference play, while Bushnell improved to 8-12 on the year.
It was an evenly-matched contest in the early stages, with each team staying within eight points of each other for the duration of the period. Bushnell began to assert their dominance on the game in the second quarter, with Mandy Sisul extending the visitor's lead to 18 with a pair of buckets in the final four minutes of the period. A bucket from Ellis Mastel in the final second of the half helped keep the Lions to a 14-point deficit heading into the halftime break.
The Lions struggled to chip away at Bushnell's lead as the game progressed, but were able to pull within 10 by the end of the third quarter thanks to a pair of free throws from senior forward
Gracie Browning. Junior guard
Makayla Torkornoo helped pull Multnomah within four with a three-pointer in the final eight minutes of the contest, but that was the closest they would come to claiming the lead for the rest of the contest.
Freshman guard
Jersey Huerta continued to show her offensive prowess, shooting 100% from the free throw line and 33% from three-point range for 19 points on the night, along with seven rebounds and three assists. Browning recorded her fifth double-double of the conference season, tallying 18 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Torkornoo finished the night with 13 points, seven rebounds and a team-high five assists, while
Ellie Robertson recorded 11 points and a pair of assists.
Mastel was immense for the visitors tonight, recording a double-double with a career-high 31 points and 13 rebounds. Sisul ended the night with 15 points, while Libby Mathis matched Mastel's rebound tally with 13 of her own.
The Lions hit the road next weekend as they look to bounce back in a pair of games against Walla Walla University and Lewis-Clark State College.
