Makayla Torkornoo matched her season-high of 23 points in tonight's road loss against Eastern Oregon University. Multnomah (5-13, 3-9) were out paced in every category of tonight's contest, with the Mountaineers securing a 91-63 victory, moving to 8-4 in Cascade Conference play.
The first quarter was a tightly-contested affair, with the hosts maintaining just a three point lead by the end of the period. EOU would go on to turn it up a level offensively in the second quarter, outscoring the Lions 35-15 in the period before heading into the halftime break with a 19-point lead.
The Mounties dominated all aspects of the game, out-rebounding Multnomah 48-23 while shooting 56.9% from the field compared to the Lions' 35.7% en route to their 28-point win.
Torkornoo tallied a pair of rebounds, one assist and one steal to go with her game-high 23 points. Freshman guard
Jersey Huerta, the leading scorer in the conference, ended the night with 18 points, four rebounds and a team-high five assists. Senior forward
Gracie Browning recorded 17 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while
Ellie Robertson chipped in with four points and four rebounds.
The Lions will hope to snap their seven game losing streak next Friday at home as they host Corban University at 5:30 pm.
