PORTLAND, Ore. - On a night with the hopes of a major upset win for Multnomah, it was the No. 9 ranked Corban Warriors who came out on top, winning 25-15, 25-11, and 25-12 across three sets. Corban led across the board on the night, tallying 39 kills, 44 digs, and 14 blocks, keeping Multnomah from building any sort of momentum during the course of the game.
"You have to respect your opposition, but I think we were more evenly matched than some of us thought," shared Head Coach Nerisa Laban when asked about tonight's result. "They [Corban] made things difficult for us, and they made sure to capitalize on our mistakes, but there were moments where we got in our own way. Lots of moments to learn from after tonight, but that's why I'm thankful that there's still a long season ahead of us."
Makayla Roginski and Emma Bischoff led the way for the Warriors offensively, with each recording nine kills on the night. Abby Guindy also came up big with 20 assists, while Marissa Uehara helped out on the defensive side of the game with 16 digs.
Senior libero
Lauren Porter came up big for the Lions on multiple occasions tonight, recording 11 digs of her own.
Zoe Schuele, another highlight for Multnomah tonight, chipped in with 10 assists, but it wasn't enough to keep the Warriors at bay.
Multnomah has a quick turnaround before their next conference matchup, as they play host and look to find their first win of the season against cross-town rivals, Warner Pacific University on Tuesday, September 10th. Following that will be home contests against Walla Walla University and Lewis-Clark State College, before heading off on a four-game away run starting up in Washington.
