PORTLAND, Ore. - Thanks to his second hat trick in as many games, senior forward
Paul Einero and the Multnomah Lions powered themselves past Lewis and Clark College tonight, winning 4-0 to make it back to back wins as Multnomah continues to prepare for the start of the conference season.
"Paul capped off an excellent team performance tonight," said Head Coach Dalon Parker following tonight's win. "We took advantage of the opportunities that came our way tonight, and I'm really proud of how the guys have bounced back after our first few results didn't go our way."
Einero got Multnomah on the scoreboard early, after he got on the end of a free kick from Aghiles Lamara and put his header past the outstretched hands of the Lewis & Clark goalkeeper. Einero would get his second of the night just under 20 minutes later, after he tapped his shot into an open net thanks to another assist from Lamara.
The game was all Multnomah from that point on, with the Lions making things difficult for Lewis & Clark to put anything together going forward. The pair of Einero and Lamara would combine again for Einero's third goal, rounding out his second hat trick of the season in the 46th minute after he was able to break away from the back line of Lewis and Clark, round the goalkeeper and calmly put his shot into the back of the net. The Lions capped off the night with a fourth goal in the 80th minute through forward
Wesley Gerlach, who powered his shot past the goalkeeper following a poor clearance from the Lewis and Clark defenders. Junior goalkeeper
Luis Mendoza recorded his second clean sheet of the season in as many games after facing seven shots and being forced into one crucial save early in the game.
Multnomah has the weekend off before concluding their preseason schedule with a trip up to Tacoma, Washington to take on the University of Puget Sound on Thursday, September 12th.
