TACOMA, Wash. - Despite entering their last game of their preseason on the back of two massive wins, Multnomah was unable to make it three in three, as they fell hard on the road today, losing 5-1 against the University of Puget Sound.
"Today was disappointing," shared Head Coach Dalon Parker. "We started the game well, but as soon as we got sloppy, they were able to capitalize on our mistakes. We were able to force them into some uncomfortable positions early in the game, but we have to be able to do that for longer stretches of the game."
While the Lions (2-2, 0-0 CCC) started the game confidently against their NCAA DII opponents, maintaining the majority of the possession and looking dangerous going forward, it would be the Loggers (1-2) who would strike first, scoring their first of the night through Jackson Smith in the 32nd minute. Smith would go on to complete a hat trick on the night, scoring again in the 36th and 68th minutes. Senior forward
Jaren Bowler managed to pull one back for Multnomah in the 64th minute, with
Jonathan Gaspar recording his first assist of his Multnomah career, but it wasn't enough to combat against Puget Sound's offensive onslaught.
The Lions have a full week off before they open up their conference season on the road against Southern Oregon University next Friday, September 20th, and Oregon Tech on Saturday, September 21st.
