PORTLAND, Ore. - It was all LC State this afternoon, whose 63-39 edge in kills was just one example of how they overpowered Multnomah, who, despite fighting their way to a win in Set 2, fell 3-1 to the Warriors. Multnomah now moves to 1-8 overall and 1-4 in conference play, while LC State improves to 8-3 and 5-1 in conference play.
"LC State is one of the tougher competitors in the conference, but we showed that we have the ability to play with anyone," shared Head Coach Nerisa Laban when asked about her team's efforts today. "We went point-for-point with them and earned that win in Set 2 - we have to be able to fight like that each set if we want to improve our results this season."
Sophomore
Jade Ilaoa was a bright spot for the Lions today, recording a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs.
Zoe Schuele and
Sophia Hernandez, who made her first appearance of the season for the Lions today, recorded 22 assists between the two, but LC State managed to do enough to keep Multnomah from chipping into their lead in any significant way.
Juliauna Forgach Aguilar and Taylor Boyce led the way offensively for the Warriors, with 40 kills recorded between the two.
Up next for the Lions is a road trip up to Washington, where they will take on Evergreen State College on Friday, September 20th, and Northwest University on Saturday, September 21st.Â
