TACOMA, Wash. - Multnomah walked away with a draw today in their final tune up match against Pacific Lutheran University ahead of the start of their conference season this coming weekend. The Lions (2-2-2, 0-0 CCC) managed to stay strong defensively tonight, despite PLU holding a 13-4 advantage in terms of shots.
"This was a good test for us tonight," said captain
Sydney Holmes, who was a bright spot offensively for the Lions tonight, registering three shots with one on target. "We've come up against some good teams in preseason, and it's given us a chance to learn what we need to work on before the conference season starts. I think we all have high expectations for ourselves, especially those of us that have been here longer and have seen this team grow."
Pacific Lutheran held the advantage in all things related to offense on the night, but they were still unable to break down Multnomah through 90 minutes. Junior goalkeeper
Javanae Jones came up big for Multnomah tonight, registering five saves and her first clean sheet in what was also her first appearance of the season.
Up next for the Lions is a trip to Ashland, Oregon, as they open up Cascade Collegiate Conference play on the road against Southern Oregon University on Friday, September 20th.
