EUGENE, Ore. - Despite ending the game with a higher shooting percentage from the field, behind the arc, and from the free throw line, Multnomah dropped a heartbreaking one-point loss on the road against Bushnell University, losing 65-66. With the loss, the Lions move to 1-1 in conference play with a 3-5 record on the year.
"I think if we would have executed in the first half of the game, we would have been walking away with the win tonight," shared head coach Reid Takatsuka. "I'm proud of how we responded in the second half, but we have to be better on both sides of the ball in games like these. We've still got a long season ahead of us, and I know we'll be able to learn from these mistakes."
Bushnell maintained the lead for the entirety of the contest, extending their lead to as much as 15 in the second quarter. The Beacons took advantage of Multnomah's mistakes tonight, scoring 21 of their 66 points points off of turnovers. Multnomah took control of the game in the third and fourth quarters, scoring 34 points to Bushnell's 23, but it was too little too late for the Lions.

Jersey Huerta ended the game with 16 points each, helping the Lions to shoot 41.4% from the field. Huerta, who leads the Cascade Collegiate Conference in scoring with 16.9 points per game, recorded a team-high nine rebounds, five assists, and a game-high four steals on the night. Robertson on the other hand tallied seven rebounds and two steals of her own.Â
Ayden Krupke led the way for Bushnell tonight, recording a double-double with game-highs of 17 points and 11 assists. Libby Mathis and Ellis Mastel also ended the nigh with double-digit scoring, as they tallied 15 and 13 points respectively.
Multnomah will be back in action tomorrow as they take on Corban University in Salem, Oregon at 3:00 pm.
