PORTLAND, Ore. - The Multnomah Lions men's basketball team dominated with an assertive 91-77 victory over the Simpson University Red Hawks, driven by balanced scoring, tenacious defense, and efficient shooting. Multnomah took command early, outscoring the Red Hawks 53-35 in the first half and maintaining their lead through the second.
Marje Windfield led the Lions with 17 points, including 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, and added 7 assists and 2 steals in 31 minutes.
Braedon Edison matched Windfield's point total, scoring 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting and grabbing 4 rebounds.
Alileyon Ford provided a spark off the bench, leading all scorers with 21 points, fueled by a relentless attack on the basket that earned him nine trips to the line, where he hit seven free throws.
Keilan Torkornoo and
Noah McCord each contributed well-rounded performances, with Torkornoo adding 13 points and 3 steals, while McCord anchored the defense with 10 rebounds, 3 steals, and 8 points.
Multnomah's offense shot a solid 49.2% from the field, including 44.4% from three-point range. Their aggressive approach at the basket led to 27 free-throw attempts, converting 77.8%, which helped to maintain their lead even as Simpson surged in the second half. The Lions' defense was a significant factor, generating 16 steals and forcing 11 Red Hawk turnovers.
For Simpson, Drey Ubas led the way with 20 points on 5-of-9 shooting and a perfect 6-for-6 from the line. Mack Tarver Jr. contributed 19 points on an efficient 8-of-11 from the field. The Red Hawks managed a 55.6% shooting percentage, keeping the game competitive, but Multnomah's control of the boards (32 total rebounds) and fast-break opportunities kept them out of reach.
