PORTLAND, Ore. – On a sunny and 65-degree day, it was a perfect day for soccer. Earning their first win of the season, the Multnomah University Lions defeated the Walla Walla Wolves on Sunday with a final score of 5-1.
The Lions dominated possession in the first half, with 12 shots and keeping the Wolves at 0. Multnomah converted on 3 of those shots, scoring 3 goals in thirteen minutes.
Noa Magana was the first Lion to get put the team on the board, after scoring unassisted from the middle in the 15
th minute. The next goal came from Alejandro Jaramillo, who found the back left corner of the net on a penalty kick. The third and final goal of the half was scored less than a minute later, after Gabe Tena headed in a cross from
Noe Magana. The score going into the break was 3-0.
Multnomah did not waste any time in the second half to score again and landed their fourth goal in the 47
th minute after
Alan Tovar scored, assisted by Juan Corredor. Wesley Gerlach scored the fifth and final goal for the Lions in the 75
th minute, assisted by Edwin Balbuena.
Not letting the Lions deal the shutout, the Wolves notched a goal in with ten minutes left of play. Walla Walla played aggressive throughout the game, with 21 total fouls and 3 yellow cards.
