PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lions had both their conference and home opener on Friday against the Yotes of the College of Idaho. The Yotes claimed the shutout, with a final score of 3-0.
At the half, the College of Idaho was up 1-0.
It was a very physical game between the two teams, with 33 fouls total and 4 yellow cards at the end of the ninety minutes of play.
The second goal from the Yotes came in the sixty third minute when they scored off a penalty kick. The third and final goal was scored ten minutes later.
Despite what the score might show, goalkeeper
Jose David Lopez and the back line had an amazing game. Lopez finished with 12 saves, and the team showed great effort with offside traps and smart plays to keep the undefeated Yotes from scoring more.
Head Coach
Dalon Parker is quoted saying, "We've prepared, battle tested – we're ready to play, now we just need to execute."
