Yotes Deal Back to Back Losses

Caldwell, ID – Jumping into day two of their conference pod, the Lions faced the host team of the weekend, the Yotes of College of Idaho and were dealt the loss in both matches.

Game 1
The Yotes stepped into the first set with an unstoppable offense, and finished with the win 25-9. The second set looked quite different, seeing the teams battle it out and trade runs. CI took the win in set two 25-20. The third set of the match saw the Lions jumping into a quick lead after 3 kills in a row from Danae Stokes. Multnomah continued to gain momentum and led by as much as 7 points. CI gradually snuck their way back to take the lead at 15-14, and did not give it back up. The Yotes won the set by 5 again, 25-20.

Leading the charge offensively and defensively was outside hitter Danae Stokes, finishing with 13 kills and 15 digs. Also in double digits for digs was Kamaile Labanon with who tallied 12. Lauren Porter also made a difference with 3 aces.

Game 2
Much like the match prior, the first set against CI started off slow for the Lions and the Yotes took advantage winning the set 25-9 just like the first match. The next set however, the teams were trading leads up until the Yotes went on a 6-point-run to make the score 19-13. Multnomah continued to play through but lost by 5, 25-20. The third and final set of the day saw the two teams trading momentum gaining runs up until the end when the Yotes finished with a 7 point difference.

Outside hitter Danae Stokes had nothing short of an impressive game, tallying 16 kills and 3 aces. Alyssa Mehalovich led the backrow with 15 digs.

Although starting out the season 0-4 was not what they planned for, the team is still proud of their efforts and happy to see competition again. The improvements made each set was encouraging and showed glimpses of how this team will continue to grow.

The Lions will be home for a couple weeks before heading to Idaho again for the next conference pod, facing Corban and LC State on March 5th and 6th.
