Connell, WA – Picking up a single game against the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers, the Lions lost in the second half with a final score of 96-80.
The game started off with the Mountaineers taking a 9-0 run in the first 3 minutes. Back-to-back threes from the Lions tightened the difference, but Eastern took another run to go up by as much as 12 points. At the ten minute mark, the Mountaineers led 22-10. Multnomah's offense began to take off and could not be stopped. With 18 seconds left in the half,
Zach Richardson drained a 3 to shorten the difference to just 1 point in Eastern's favor, 45-44.
Coming in strong in the second half the Mountaineers took a 10 point lead in the first five minutes. Eastern continued to steadily increase their lead until the game ended, finishing with a 16 point victory and a final score of 96-80.
Leading Multnomah in scoring was
Zach Richardson, who landed 31 points after making 7 shots from beyond the arc. Finishing with the team high rebounds and a double-double was
Forrest Smith, who grabbed 10 boards and 10 points. Rounding out the double-digit points trio was
Wallace Ungwiluk who finished with 12.
Overall it was an impressive showing from Multnomah with a notable improvement on the court across the board. The Lions will continue to prepare for their next game, and hope to see competition again as soon as they can.
