PORTLAND, Ore. –
Forrest Smith got things started for the Lions on the offensive end with a three on the Lions first possession of the game. In the first half the Lions had four players in double figures and were red hot behind the arc, led by
Grant Balvanz who had 5 threes before the break. Multnomah shot 14 of 32 from downtown and ran their way to a 56-41 lead, but this game was far from over.
The Walla Walla Wolves came out of halftime hungry, going on a 13-4 run to start the second half before a
Stepan Zavydovskyy dunk gave the Lions some life.
Walla Walla outscored the Lions 61-33 in the second half, as the Lions went into a complete reverse of their first half performance connecting on only 2 of 22 three-point attempts.
KiAndre Gaddy dominated the paint, scoring 40 points and hauling in 20 rebounds, and Zayne Browning helped the Wolves complete their comeback, scoring 16 of his 30 points in the second half.
The Lions struggled to find their ball movement in the second half, until
Grant Balvanz ripped a three-pointer with 2:08 left in the game, ending an 11-minute stretch where
Justin Martin was the only Lion scorer.
Martin ended the night with 32 points on 33 attempts, while Ingram scored 13, and Smith added 12.
"I give Walla Walla a ton of credit. We had a chance in the second half, but we didn't take care of business. They took advantage and steamrolled us in the second half. 2-22 from the three doomed us in the second half as well. Until tomorrow." -Head Coach
Curt Bickley
The Lions will look to bounce back tomorrow at 8:00 PM in a rematch against Walla Walla.
