Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Richardson and Martin Combine for 51 in Win

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Multnomah University men's basketball team bounced back from a tough loss last night with a 91-76 victory over the Walla Walla Wolves.

Sophomore guard Zach Richardson came into the game firing from deep, and he connected on 4 three's in a row to start the game for the Lions. A 14-4 run put the Lions on top midway thought the first half, and by halftime Multnomah had climbed their way to a 37-26 lead over the Wolves.

The Lions maintained the lead for the entire second half, in big part due to the excellent play from Trey Fountain off the bench. Justin Martin knocked down a deep three straightaway with 6:31 to go in the game to put the Lions up 73-57, and Walla Walla couldn't string together enough stops on the defensive end to make one last push. The Lions avenge their loss last night with a 91-76 win.

Justin Martin led the Lions with 29 points, while Zach Richardson added 22, and Forrest Smith scored 15. Trey Fountain proved to be the spark plug the Lions needed tonight, finishing with 17 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds.

Walla Walla was lead by KiAndre Gaddy who put up an impressive double-double of 34 points and 12 rebounds, and Dylan Browing scored 16 points of his own.

"Zach hitting four threes in a row to start the game was huge. Our two point guards, Trey and Justin, played tremendous. Forrest did an incredible job distributing the ball, and we shot it well tonight while getting the stops that we needed. The fact that we tied them in rebounds while we were in fould trouble was big for us." - Head Coach Curt Bickley

Up next for the Lions is a home matchup with the College of Idaho at 7:30 PM on Friday, January 31st.
