PORTLAND, Ore. - The Multnomah University men's basketball team had a tough night against the physical play of Warner Pacific, falling to the Knights 97-81.
The story of the game for the Lions was that they shot 35% form the field and 30% from three, including going 17-56 from deep.
On the other hand the Knights continued to stay aggressive, scoring 30 points in the paint and getting 41 points from their bench.
Justin Martin,
Zach Richardson, and
Forrest Smith combined for 46 points but the three Lion scorers shot a combined 17-53 from the field. Stepan Zavydovsky continued on his pursuit to lead the nation in blocks, as he now is second in the nation with an incredible 67 blocks on the year.
Jalen Ballard had his way tonight, scoring 27 points while grabbing 8 boards and dishing out 7 assists. He wasn't the only Knight to perform well as Stephon Shaw scored 19 off the bench, DeAngelo Stowers scored 15, and Miles Brown added 14 points of his own.
"It was a night where we couldn't get shots to fall. Credit Warner's defense as we couldn't get a rhythm. They are a well coached team and always tough to play. I was happy with my guys at the end of the game, especially Quinn, Luke, and Ben Schnieders as they finished the game strong and sent us into the next game with a little momentum. This conference is a grind." - Head Coach
Curt Bickley
The Lions will look to turn things around this weekend when they face Walla Walla University in back-to-back games this Friday at 3:00 PM and Saturday at 8:00 PM at Jim Skagen Court.
