Portland, Ore. – On the second night of a back-to-back the Multnomah University women's volleyball team faced off against Northwest University, but were defeated in three sets (9-25), (14-25), and (19-25).
THE BASICS:
Final: Multnomah 0, Northwest University 3
Records: MU (1-2), NU (4-4)
Location: Portland, Ore.
GAME SUMMARY:
- An assist by Amanda Holm to the powerful arm of Freshman Danae Stokes started off the night for the Lions much to the approval of the home crowd, but aside from the first point of the game, things quickly turned for MU and Northwest took a commanding 3-17 lead and never looked back. Northwest's final blow was by Tatiana Ensz to win the first set 9-25.
- Things didn't get much better for the Lions in the second set as they got down 6-18, but back-to-back aces by Kamaile Labanon to force NU to burn a time-out and stop momentum highlighted a great moment for the Lions. A few moments later Senior Maile Kam lasered a kill right between two NU players, but the Eagles remained composed and won the second set 14-25.
- After a controversial play resulting in Danae Stokes rolling her ankle on the foot of an NU player, Emily Reynolds subbed into the game for the Lions, and they turned up their intensity and played their best set of the night, yet the outside hitters from NU proved to be too much defeating the Lions 19-25.
