Lions Topped by George Fox Bruins 55-70

NEWBERG, Ore. - The Multnomah University women's basketball (2-3) team faced off against the George Fox Bruins (6-1) on Tuesday night at Miller Gymnasium, but after three back-and-forth quarters the Bruins outscored the Lions 8-18 in the forth quarter to win 55-70.

For the Lions, Erykah Campbell continued her strong start to the season with yet another impressive performance of 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 blocks while leading the Lions in scoring for the night. Campbell caused problems for the Bruins all game long in the middle of the Lions zone defense, and she continued to be a presence rebounding the basketball. Campbell is averaging 11 rebounds per game this season.

Dilala Rincan had a great shooting night for MU, going 4-8 from the field to score 12 points, and Teresa Torres had 8 points. 

The Bruins were lead by Emily Spencer with 21 points and Hailey Hartney with 12 points, and both players knocked down 4 three point shots. 

The story of the night was the fact that the Bruins won the turnover battle, only committing 9 turnovers for the game while forcing the Lions into 20 turnovers. The Bruins also shot the ball well from behind the arc, going 13-27, while the Lions connected on 6-14 three's. 

Up next for the Lions is a matchup in La Grande with Eastern Oregon University (6-4) on Friday night at 6:00 PM.
