Walla Walla, Wash. - The Lions of Multnomah University closed out their weekend on the road with a dramatic victory over Walla Walla University in 5 sets. Three Lions recorded double digit kills, including
Kamaile Labanon who recorded a match high 15 kills and 18 digs.
Taryn Frey added 12 kills and
Taylor Howie added 11.
Alyssa Mehalovich recorded a season high 21 digs and
Amanda Holm got a double double of her own, recording 38 assists and 13 digs.
GAME SUMMARY:
The first set saw Multnomah play their most efficient offensive performance thus far, hitting .353 and winning a back-and-forth set 25-22.
The second set was all Multnomah, who kept the pressure on the Wolves and held them to a -.143 hitting percentage. The Lions went on to win 25-9 in their most dominant defensive performance this season.
Walla Walla defended their home court in sets 3 and 4, winning by scores 22-25 and 15-25.
Set 5 remained tight the entire way through, and looked to go the way of the Wolves at 8-10. After a timeout, the Lions went on a three point run and maintained the lead until the score was tied 14-14.
Taryn Frey found the open court to even Multnomah match point, and the Lions closed out the match on a double contact call to win 16-14. The Lions snap a 10 game losing streak and earned their first conference win and some much needed confidence.

Colton Naill reflected upon the match, saying "We've learned valuable lessons in each defeat, playing our hearts out against some of the top teams in the nation. I was so proud to see our team battle in set 5 and earn a hard fought victory. Hats off to Walla Walla.We had a chance to sweep them and they stepped up and pushed back. I expect another great battle when they come to Portland."
