BUTTE, Mont. – The Multnomah University volleyball team picked up their first win of the season at the Big Sky Challenge, defeating Montana State University – Northern as they finished 1-3 overall at the tournament.

GAME SUMMARY:
- The Lions fought hard against Montana Western, taking the third set to avoid the sweep. Western held a slight advantage over MU in total aces with eight and in blocks with 11.
- Western also tallied a higher hitting percentage, hitting .173 to .158 from MU

GAME SUMMARY:
- Rocky Mountain jumped out ahead early, taking the first set 25-13.
- As a team they hit .350 overall while earning an attacking percentage of .469 in the opening set.
- The Battlin' Bears also held advantages over MU in aces, 8-1, and in blocks, 9-1, forcing MU to a .107 hitting percentage.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Kam finished with a team high nine kills while Rhodes led the Lions with 25 assists and 15 digs.
GAME THREE:
GAME SUMMARY:
- The Lions swept Montana State – Northern, collecting seven aces and forcing MSUN to 30 total errors in the game, and an attacking percentage of .000.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Kam led MU again with 11 kills followed by Savannah White with six and Halverson with five.
- Rachel Leshikar earned three aces while Rhodes tallied 20 assists and Weidlich collected 21 digs.
GAME FOUR:
GAME SUMMARY:
- The Lions came up against a strong hitting team in Providence who earned a .340 hitting percentage including marks of .371 in set one, .500 in set three and .391 in set four.
- MU took the second set of the match, committing only four errors for a hitting percentage of .258.
- The Lions were close to forcing a fifth set in their final game of the tournament, collecting a hitting percentage of .356 but couldn't overcome Providence as they took the set by a score of 30-28.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Taryn Frey led MU with 12 kills while Rhodes tallied another 40-plus assist match, ending with 45.
- Earning 11 kills each was Amundsen and Kam while Weidlich totaled 16 digs.
