KIRKLAND – With one of the fastest starts in program history,
Sequoia Wheeler sparked the Lions to a 77-75 win over Northwest University with a buzzer-beater to start Cascade Conference action on Friday.

GAME SUMMARY:
- Wheeler jump started the Lions to begin the game, hitting five three-pointers in the first four minutes of play as MU took a 15-8 lead.
- MU's lead reached as high as 11 points before settling on a 40-39 advantage heading into the halftime break.
- The Lions shot 39 percent from the field, including a mark of 38 percent from three-point range.
- With just over two minutes to go in the game, Northwest took a five-point lead before Milan Woods hit a three-pointer followed by two free throws and a fastbreak bucket to give the Lions the lead 75-73. After Northwest tied the game with less than a minute to go, Wheeler had the final shot of the game to lift the Lions to victory.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Wheeler finished with a high of 24 points, going 9-of-18 from the field while Erykah Campbell finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
- Alaygza Portis and Woods each tallied 11 points while Paris Sanders finished with 10 rebounds and three steals.
