Corban Holds On Late Against Lions

PORTLAND, Oregon - In the first home game of the new year, the Lions found themselves fighting to the last minute against the visiting Warriors, but ultimately losing 76-68.

Despite the cold weather, a conference matchup was underway at Multnomah University between the Lions and visiting Corban Warriors. Both teams came out firing with Moe Keita leading the way for Multnomah with 10 of his 17 points in the first half, as well as AJ Monterossi for Corban with 15. The Warriors took a 40-32 lead heading into the locker rooms at the half.

Things were back-and-forth for the first seven minutes until Multnomah went on an 8-0 run to tie the score at 51 apiece. The intensity continued as the Lions took a 56-55 lead on Keita's layup with an assist from Darius Redrick, with 10:27 left.

The Lions kept the game close up to the final two minutes, but fouls by the Lions extended the Warrior's lead to 8 points with 1:12 remaining. Corban held off the Lions late to take the victory, 76-68.

Double-double performances from Keita (17 points, 11 boards) and Redrick (15 points, 10 boards) led the way for the Lions, along with Andy Brown who put in 12 points of his own. Ben Grandle and Thomas Simien both added 7 points to the box score.

Multnomah returns to the court against conference opponent Northwest Christian University tomorrow, Jan. 14th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Jim Skagen Court on the campus of Multnomah University.
