PORTLAND, Ore. – Down a few starters, the Multnomah University men's soccer team couldn't find enough defensively against The Evergreen State College on Friday day afternoon, losing 4-1 in the first Cascade Collegiate Conference road game of the season.
Evergreen State (3-0-2, 2-0-2 CCC) opened up the scoring early in the game, when Juan Oropeza took a ball from Miguel Viramontes in the 11
th minute, knocking it in from 12 yards out.
It didn't take long for the Geoducks to add to their lead, scoring five minutes in when Christian Segovia rebounded the ball after a shot, and hitting it in from 10 yards out.
The Lions (2-7, 0-5 CCC) held off the Evergreen attack for the remainder of the half, entering the locker rooms with a 2-0 deficit.
MU keeper
Manny Guillermo tallied nine saves on the day while the Lions offense finished with five shots.
Ryan Porch earned the first score of the second half as he took a cross from Jake Zimmerman close to the net in the 62
nd minute of play.
Freshman
Noe Favila got the Lions on the board when he hit a free kick from the top of the box, hitting just under the cross bar with just over seven minutes to play.
Oropeza set up the final score of the game as Tino Pantaleon found the back of the net with 30 seconds to go in the game.
The Lions return to action tomorrow as they travel to Kirkland, Wash., for a game with Northwest University.
