PORTLAND, Ore. – The Multnomah University men's soccer team battled against a tough ranked Rocky Mountain squad, losing 5-1 on a wet Friday night at Delta Park.
Rocky Mountain, ranked 25
th in the latest NAIA rankings, did damage early in the night, as Nolan Sherwood took the ball off a ricochet from the post, scoring in the ninth minute, followed by a goal from Matthew Thomas in the 10
th.
The Bears let the shots fly throughout the night, tallying 34 shots with 21 landing on target.
"We played one of our best games tonight. Rocky is a great team with a great coach," said head coach
Tom Stephens. "For all purposes we played them 1-1 in the second half. The guys are playing really well together and these are the foundations pieces for a great future."

Manny Guillermo finished the game one save shy of his career high, totaling 16 saves on the night.
Sherwood would add his second goal of the night, later in the first half to send it to half time with a 3-0 advantage for Rocky Mountain.
The Lions were efficient with their shots, totaling four with two finishing on goal.
Noe Favila recorded the goal for the Lions in the 56
th minute, after deflecting the ball off a RMC defender before finding the back of the net from 20 yards out.
Ben Teasdale finished off the scoring for Rocky Mountain, recording his first goal in the 84
th minute before Marco Kummerle sent a corner his way with four second remaining in the game for his second goal of the night.
The Lions return to action tomorrow night as they take on College of Idaho at 6 p.m. at Delta Park.
