PORTLAND, Ore. – The Multnomah University men's basketball team struggled to find an offensive rhythm against an athletic squad from Warner Pacific College (WPC), falling to the Knights 75-106. The Knights led the Lions from the start to finish and ended the night with three players scoring over 20 points.
Multnomah found an offensive spark from
Ezekiel Martin and
Max Upchurch as Martin scored 18 points and Upchurch put in 5 three point baskets to tally 15 points. The Lions managed to make 11 threes on the night due to solid ball movement which gave them 18 total assists with
Darius Redrick dishing out 6 of those. The Lions bench gave good production totaling 24 bench points, led by
Trever Cooley with 8.
The Lions went into the half-time break down 21 points but put together a strong come-back at the start of the second period, cutting the lead to as little as 12. The Knights then thwarted the Lions' rally and systematically put the game out of reach for Multnomah. WPC was led on all fronts by Collin Malcom who finished the game with 30 points and 19 rebounds.
The Lions travel to The Evergreen State College and Northwest University on Friday and Saturday as they continue Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play.
