ASHLAND, Ore. – The Multnomah University volleyball team gave Southern Oregon all they could on Saturday afternoon but it wasn't enough as the Raiders downed the Lions in three sets, 22-25, 11-25 and 18-25, at the Ashland Middle School.
Maile Kam led the Lions offense with 12 kills on 27 attempts to finish with a team high .370 hitting percentage. Following her was
Miranda Halverson with nine kills and
Hannah Antal with five.
Marissa Rhodes tallied a team high 27 assists while
Kiana Miller added a match high 18 digs for the Lions defense.
After earning a 25-22 victory in set one, the Raiders used an 11-2 run in the middle of the second set to break away from the Lions. Multnomah started off the final set of the day building a 7-2 lead but 10 straight points by SOU gave them the lead and the eventual win.
Lauren McGowne orchestrated the Raider offense, dishing out 33 assists while Courtney Macklin led the way with 12 kills off of 19 swings.
The Lions travel to George Fox next Tuesday before returning home to host Cascade Conference opponents No. 6 Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho.
