Lions Cruise to Three Set Win Over George Fox

NEWBERG, Ore. – The Multnomah University volleyball team found themselves back on the winning side of things, downing George Fox University in three sets, 25-20, 25-17 and 25-23, on the road on Tuesday night.

The Lions (8-13, 3-11 CCC) recorded their second win over an NCAA DIII opponent, improving to 2-1 against Northwest Conference opponents this season.

How it Happened: MU never trailed in the opening set, jumping out to a 8-1 lead to start the match. George Fox fought back, bringing the set within two points on a number of occasions but couldn't overcome the deficit as the Lions earned the final three points.

MU's defense recorded four blocks as they held the Bruins to a hitting percentage of .163.

After giving up the first point in the set, MU built an 8-4 lead in the second set. The Lions strung together runs of four or more points three different times in the set as they jumped ahead 2-0 in the match.

George Fox put up a bigger fight in the final set, eventually working a 20-15 lead over the Lions. Eager to end the night in three sets, Multnomah used a 9-1 run to take back the lead before a final kill by sophomore Miranda Halverson gave the Lions the victory.
